Electro Coagulation System (ECS)
An Electro Coagulation System (ECS) is the process of destabilizing suspended, emulsified and dissolved contaminants in waste streams by introducing an electrical current into the medium. ECS not only cleans water in a cost effective manner but also conditions it for specific reuse. In times when water difficulties are becoming increasingly common, this technology has the capability to provide a safe and economical method for treating wastewaters. Additionally, the volume of sludge produced with ECS treatment is relatively much less than of conventional chemical precipitation method and hence considered as an economical & viable replacement option.

In ECS, electrons are added to the solution by passing current through solutions from a power source. The electrons destabilize the particles in the water creating oxide sludge when sufficient activation energy is present. This oxide sludge repels water and filters/dewaters it. The ECS treatment occurs at surface interface between liquid and conductive sacrificial material. Anode and cathode flat plates are used as sacrificing materials and the flat plates placed in a distances which are close enough to lessen the clogging caused by large particles in the water, and close enough to lessen the amount of voltage required to move the electricity through the liquid. The voltage between the anode and cathode pares set automatically to the voltage desired between the pairs and the reaction takes place on the surface between liquid and blades.
